District level competitions organized on “Bhasha Sangam” in GGHSS Kathua
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR KATHUA, AUGUST 28: A series of district level competitions, under the aegis of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” were organized on “Bhasha Sangam” here at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathua.
India is a country with different cultures and languages, so to make the students identify these differences, the initiative of ‘Bhasha Sangam’ has been taken under the “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” program.
Through this, the students learn some words or sentences of daily use in other languages, which have been given a place in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. The program, started by the central government, is being conducted in the schools of India in full gusto.
In the same category, Bhasha Sangam district level program was organized in Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathua. A total of 4 competitions were conducted in different categories which were related to dance, singing, Tamil sentence translation and quiz.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been combined with the state of Tamil Nadu, so all the competitions were conducted keeping Tamil language at the centre. In the program, the role of the students and their mentors of 12 zones of Kathua and the head teachers and principals of the respective schools were also important.
The program was inaugurated by the Principal DIET Basohli, Nand Kishore through virtual mode. He extended best wishes to the participants and organizers for the program.

The program coordinator, Champa Devi (HOD, DIET Basohli) started the program with the keynote address. The program’s assistant coordinator Shashi Bala (HOD, DIET Basohli) and Shobharani (Physical Instructor, DIET Basohli) were also present and encouraged the participants.
The program was conducted by Monika Khosla (DICC, Kathua). Shashi Bala and Shobha Rani from DIET Basohli were jury members for singing and dance competition, while Amol Sharma , Deepak Sharma and Hardev Kumar played an important role in the jury related to Quiz and sentence translation competition.
The program was held under the overall supervision of the Principal of DIET Basohli, Nand Kishore.
The program was also linked through online mode with SCERT, Jammu who was also supervising the entire program.
Zone Hiranagar in quiz competition, Zone Madheen in dance and singing competition and Zone Bhaddu in Tamil sentence translation were declared winners.
In the end, the coordinator of the program, Champa Devi presented the vote of thanks. She thanked the Principal of the school, Kewal Singh, the guests present and especially the District Chief Education Officer, PL Thappa.
