DC Bandipora reviews Flood Preparedness in the district

Asks officers to maintain coordination to safeguard precious lives

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR BANDIPORA JULY 22: The Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed on Friday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the flood preparations in the District.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, officers from Jal Shakti, Mechanical irrigation and other concerned while as Tehsildar attended the meeting through video conferencing.

The DC asked the officers to  formulate an affective and revised flood management plans to meet any eventuality.

He directed the concerned officers to indentify and  focus on the vulnerable spots so that rapid action is ensured in case of need.

He also directed for cleaning of main drains and Nallahs in order   to prevent water logging and damage caused by flash floods.

He directed the concerned departments to remove encroachments on Nallahs and streams and be ready to tackle arising incidents during heavy rainfall and flood like situation.

He also directed the concerned departments to formulate rescue plans, identify safe control room location and also prepare back up plan.

He stressed on the concerned departments to  maintain close coordination to safeguard precious lives in case of any eventuality during the rainy season.
