Will speak to youth of Kashmir, not Pakistan, says Home Minister
SRINAGAR, OCT 25 (PTK): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday hit out at National Conference President Farooq Abdullah for demanding talks with Pakistan and said instead the government would talk to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to make it the most developed state in the country.
Amit Shah said that those advocating talks with Islamabad and separatists should be asked what Pakistan has done in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
While addressing a function at SKICC, Amit shah said, “I have read in newspapers that Farooq Abdullah has suggested that the government should talk to Pakistan. They have a right to express their opinion, but we would love to talk to the Kashmiri youth.”
“The abrogation of Article 370 had only one intention – to bring Kashmir, Jammu and the newly created Ladakh (Union Territory) on the path of development. You will see the fruits of our efforts by 2024.” Article 370, which gave special status to erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir, was revoked in August 2019 and bifurcated the state into two union territories as Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Shah inaugurated several development projects and laid the foundation stone of many others. He inaugurated a 500-bed hospital constructed at a cost of Rs 115 crore at Bemina, laid the foundation stone for Handwara Medical College, Rs 46 crore steel girder bridge over Ferozepur drain in Baramulla district and road projects worth Rs 4,000 crore and others.
Shah reached Srinagar on Saturday on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. On reaching Srinagar, he met the family of police officer Parvez Ahmed, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in June this year. Shah also met the wife and brother of teacher Deepak Chand, who was attacked by terrorists in Srinagar recently.
On Saturday, Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in a meeting held at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and held talks with the members of the newly formed youth club in the Valley in the evening. On Sunday, Shah visited Jammu where he also addressed a public meeting. (PTK).
