Awantipora residents stage protest, demand shifting of PHC back to town
Press Trust of Kashmir | Pulwama : The residents of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district staged protest in main town Awantipora and demanded that PHC must be shifted back to main town at an earliest.
The protest was taken under the banner of town welfare committee.
They while protesting said that last year as the approaching road to AIIMS was widened, PHC building was demolished after which the PHC started functioning in a rented building in Jawabara.
They said that now big building has been made available at main town Awantipora again before two months now but authorities aren’t shifting the PHC due to unknown reasons.
They said that presently PHC is functioning far from town in a rented building with very little space and far from the road due to which people of the area are suffering.
We have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times and were assured that it will be shifted soon but on ground it proved hoax, they added
The protestor once again requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
The protest continued for a while and was called off after Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora visited the spot and assured the protestor that PHC will start functioning in town within one week.(PTK).
