Amid soaring temperature, water shortage hits Babapora Kangan, locals stage protest

Press Trust of Kashmir | Ganderbal  : Amid the very high soaring temperature, the water shortage has hitted Babapora Kullan area in Kangan subdivision of Ganderbal district.

 

Locals mainly women of the ara on Sunday staged protest and blocked road in the area to press for their demands.

 

They while protesting on Srinagar-Ladakh highway were carrying empty buckets and utensils.

 

Since last several months we have been facing shortage of water in the area for which concerned incumbentors were contacted upteem times but nothing has been done on ground, they said.

 

They added that if department fails to restore our supply in coming few days, we will continue our protests in the area.

 

Whenever we receive water, it is high contaminated, thereby our lives are being risked, they said.

 

Later a team of officials visited the spot and pacified protestors that their supply will be restored at an earliest following which protest was called off.(PTK).
