Hamray residents stage Protest over filthy water supply
Residents block Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway for half an hour

Press Trust of Kashmir | Baramulla , 06 July : The residents of hamray village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest against the Jalshakti department and blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway on Tuesday afternoon.
The residents of Parra mohalla of hamray area assembled at main market and blocked Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway to protest against Jalshakti department for not providing safe drinking water .
Protesters said that they are getting filthy water supply from the supply station,the department has failed to find out a solution to contaminated water supply due to which they live under threat of epidemic.
Showing a bottle of “contaminated water”, the protesting residents alleged that there were high chances of an outbreak of water-borne diseases in the area.
The protesters said they have taken the matter to the deptt many times but to avail.
The residents were chanting slogans against Jalshakti department and disrupt traffic movement for an hour.
Meanwhile a team of concerned police station reached to the spot within no time and assured the protesters to take up the matter on urgent basis and overcome the grave issue and with that the protesters dispersed peacefully and the traffic movement was restored smoothly on Srinagar Muzaffarabad national highway .(PTK).
