Policeman shot dead in Srinagar

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR : Suspected militants shot dead a police constable in Saidpora area of Srinagar district.

An official said that a cop dentified as Javeed Ahmad Kambey son of Gh. Mohammad Kambey resident of Saidpora area of Srinagar was shot by unknown gunmen outside his residence

He said that the injured was shifted to hospital for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead.

As per initial reports Javeed had received bullet injury in the neck.

Meanwhile area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

June 17: As a part of public outreach programme, police public interaction meeting was held in Bandipora at Police Station Sumbal while following social distancing norms and other protocols.

The meeting was chaired by SDPO Sumbal Shri Surinder Mohan-JKPS accompanied by SHO PS Sumbal. The meeting was attended by respectable citizens & civil society members of the area.

During the meeting, the participants highlighted various issues of public importance pertaining to police as well as civil administration. The chairing officer assured the participants that their genuine grievances pertaining to police will be resolved on priority and the issues pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal. The participants were also briefed about the precautionary measures to be adopted to contain the spread of Covid-19.

In addition, participants were requested to cooperate with the Police on every front so that the crime is eradicated within the society. Participants hailed the efforts of police in facilitating such community interaction meets where participants express their opinion freely.(PTK)

June 17: Budgam Police under the aegis of Civic Action Programme (CAP) distributed wheel chairs and other mobility equipments among  specially-abled persons at District Police Office Budgam. The event was organized while following Covid-19 SOPs and other protocols.

On the occasion, SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem-JKPS held the distribution function, besides DySP Hqrs Budgam and other officers/officials were also present. During the event, wheel chairs and other mobility aids and equipments were distributed among 26 specially abled persons hailing from below poverty line families of district Budgam.

While interacting with the beneficiaries, SSP Budgam expressed the hope that the assistance provided by the Police to the specially-abled persons may help them to become self-reliant. He also assured them of all support from police department and will facilitate them to achieve their goals. He also asked the beneficiaries not to allow their physical infirmities to come in their way and stay active in their lives to achieve their desirable objectives. He also advised the police officers and jawans to show empathy and kindness towards such segment of society and come forward with helping hand to make them feel part and parcel of the society.
