Dozens of Palestinians killed in fresh Israeli bombing
SRINAGAR/NEW DELHI, (PTK): The Israeli military says it targeted the home of Yahya al-Sunnawar, a top Hamas leader, on Sunday night. The Hamas leader’s home is in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza. At least 10 civilians, mostly children, were reported killed in the attack. The death toll from the recent conflict in Hamas-controlled Gaza has risen to 174. The dead included 47 children and 23 women.
The Israeli military says it bombed the home of Yahya al-Sunnawar, the head of Hamas’s political wing, because the building was part of Hamas’s “military” infrastructure. The Israeli army has released a video of the building being demolished, but did not say how many people were killed. Yahya al-Sunnawar’s brother, a key member of Hamas, was also reportedly bombed at his home. Israel says it also targeted the home of another Hamas leader on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hamas continued to fire rockets at Israel. Hamas has acknowledged that 20 of its fighters have been killed so far.

Three buildings were demolished
The Gaza Ministry of Health says Israeli bombings on three different buildings in central Gaza City have killed at least 26 people and injured 50 others. The dead included ten women and eight children. The Israeli strikes on Gaza City have been described as the deadliest this week.
OIC meeting
The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) convened an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This is the first major step taken by Muslim countries in the Middle East in this regard. Organizations such as the Arab League and the OI believe that Palestine has the right to a separate state, but in recent times Israel has deepened ties with several key Muslim countries, and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have joined Israel. Existence has also been formally acknowledged. According to the Associated Press, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain support the Palestinians’ demand for a separate state, but the state-run media is not covering the recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict in those countries. This is being done in other Muslim countries.
During the meeting, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riaz al-Maliki called the Israeli bombing a “cowardly attack.” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl چاt شavu اوoلوlu said “Israel alone is responsible for the tension in West Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank.”

The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Iran’s compliance with “the steps required by the IAEA Board”. An emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers has been convened on Tuesday. EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said the emergency video meeting was called because of the escalating fighting between Palestinians and Israelis and the killing of unacceptable civilians. The European Union (EU) has said it wants an end to the fighting as soon as possible.
Violent fighting between Hamas and Israel has been going on for the past week. Hamas fighters have fired more than 2,000 rockets at Israel, most of which were destroyed along the way by the Israeli defense system. On the other hand, Israel has carried out hundreds of deadly attacks in Gaza. International efforts to end this bloody conflict have so far failed.
How did the recent controversy start?
One month ago, an operation by Israeli police at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem caused controversy. Al-Aqsa Mosque is located on a hill in Jerusalem and is a very sacred place for both Muslims and Jews. Tensions in East Jerusalem also escalated when Palestinians protested earlier this month against Israelis who forcibly evicted some Palestinian families. Last Monday, Hamas fired rockets at Jerusalem, signaling that it was with Palestinian protesters. The Israelis responded by launching airstrikes.
Now, with the recent violence, there are fears that a third intifada in Gaza or a Palestinian resistance movement against Israel could begin. The first movement lasted from 1987 to 1993, while the second resistance movement or intifada began in 2000 and lasted for about five years. (PTK)
