Mother, daughter drowns in Jehleum in Anantnag village, rescue operation started

SRINAGAR  JUNE(PTK)Mother and her daughter drowned in river Jehleum in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon.

Locals said that Saleema Banoo wife of Gh Hassan Dar and her daughter drowned in Jehleum at Marhama village and rescue operation has been started to retrieve bodies.

An official said that Saleema was washing clothes and her daughter Nighat(12) was taking bath in Jehleum and suddenly Nighat drowned.

Mother tried to rescue her daughter but she drowned too, official said, adding that locals tried to save them but couldn’t find them.

He further added that SDRF team has reached to the spot and efforts are on to trace the drowned duo.
