Srinagar based NGO on mission to help needy people in Kashmir

Srinager, May 25(PTK): In the wake of corona virus outbreak in Kashmir valley, Khushi Welfare Foundation a NGO based in Srinagar has been working diligently carrying out relief work in Bandipora which was once the worst hit area of Kashmir Valley.

Zahid Ahmad Raina Chief Coordinator of the foundation stated that even though Khushi Welfare Foundation was based in Srinagar and working to impart skill development training among women among other things, sensing the need of hour in wake of COVID-19 outbreak we decided to work in Bandipora district also after the Covid-19 was having a major impact on the district.

Since beginning of April the foundation has working to provide protective equipment, sanitizers , food kits besides educating people about Social distancing and importance of personal hygiene in fight against COVID-19.

The foundation has donated PPEs to district adminstration, PHC Ajas besides providing food kits containing Lentils, Soya chunks, Oil, Sugar, Salt, Soap, Detergent bar, Sooji, Tea, Potato, Onions,Red chilli and Turmeric Powder to needy more than 450 families in Tehsil Ajas and adjoining areas of District Bandipora.

The foundation has also donated PPEs in the district Admisntration bandipora and also in the PHC ajas bandipora besides providing food kits containing lentils, soya chunks (nutri), oil, Sugar, salt, soap, detergent bars, sooji, tea, potato, onions, red cilly and turmeric powder to poor and destitutes more than 250 families in Tehsil Ajas and adjoining areas of district bandipora

The initiative by Zahid Ahmad Raina and Junaid Ahamad Rather has been appreciated by the locals. “We saw panic buyers emptying shelves of stores and leaving almost nothing for others to buy. People like Junaid and Zahid have come as a ray of hope,” locals said.(PTK)
