Bandipora, 06 March(PTK):  Students of Government Primary School Zeban Chuntimulla are facing hardships for lack of sufficient space and basic facilities at the school.

Located in the upper hemlet of Bandipora district, the school management finds it difficult to accommodate some 83 students in the two room rented building.

According to local residents, absence of basic facilities at the school is forcing a number of students from below poverty Line (BPL) to either discontinue their schooling or to get enrolled in private schools.

“We have requested the authorities several times to enhance the infrastructure of this school and also for teachers, but so far no step has been taken in this regard.

In the times of stiff competition when others are competing over the quality of education, our kids are still struggling to even get the basic needs fulfilled,” a local resident said.

The parents whose wards are enrolled in the school said that the Government Primary School has total enrolment of 83 students, adding that only two teachers has been deputed to teach the students while other posts are lying vacant for a long.

The residents and students appealed Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter on priority basis.m(PTK)
