Div Com inaugurates Rs. 2.15 crore steel bridge at Karipora in Budgam Also e-inaugurates Jal Jeeshan Mission in Budgam
Budgam, Feb, 13:(PTK) Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan in presence of District Development Commissioner, Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganaie today inaugurated the steel bridge worth Rs. 215.75 lac at Karipora Budgam approach road.
ADC Budgam, DIO, Executive Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Budgam and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner was briefed that the project which includes construction of 1.10 kilometer road stretch, connecting Railway Station Budgam was completed under languishing projects by R&B Budgam as executing agency.
He said that the project is of prime importance as it connects various government offices including DC and SP offices and shall smooth traffic flow across the town particularly during the month of Moharram when main roads remain unconnected for traffic with passage of mourning processions.
He said that approaching road also serves as the shortest way to villages including Mirgund, Pallar, Waterwani, Dadina, Nasrullahpora, Sholipora up to Beerwah towards Railway Station Budgam.
At the outset, Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure adequate compensation to the farmers whose land was acquired for the approaching road project and steel bridge.
Later on, Divisional Commissioner also e-inaugurated the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in Budgam. Addressing a large gathering of BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and other respectable, Divisional Commissioner said that every household in Budgam shall be supplied potable drinking water through pipeline and tap connection under JJM. For this, he stressed on district administration to expedite work process on all water supply schemes and ensure tap water connections to all pending 1.10 lac households by June- 2021 as target date for the district Budgam. He said that Ministry of Jal Shakhti has released Rs. 120 crores for Budgam already to ensure safe drinking tap water supply to all households in the district.
Divisional Commissioner urged all BDCs and Sarpanchs to maintain regular monitoring on work process of all water supply schemes under the JJM and apprise the district administrations loopholes or unnecessary delays if any for prompt redressal.
Divisional Commissioner in presence of DDC, ADC and SE Hydraulics G.A Beigh released a booklet on JJM.
Meanwhile, DDC Budgam during inaugural session of the one day district level mega advocacy workshop on JJM organized by District Water and Sanitation Mission Budgam in collaboration with Jal Shakti Vibagh Budgam deliberated on the importance of the scheme. He said that the objective of the scheme is ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ every household shall get tap water supply.
Various experts and resources persons spoke thoroughly on water conservation, rain water harvesting, renovation of water bodies, tanks, intensive afforestation and related topics during the daylong mega campaign. (Ptk)
