Why flood scare returns after every rainfall in Kashmir, Kadfeen asks Govt.

Says admin shouldn’t  allow 2014 like situation to re-emerge in summer capital

Srinagar, Jun 12:  Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Wednesday  urged the government to take all pre-emptive measures in order to avoid 2014 flood like situation in view of the incessant rains in Kashmir Valley.

Kadfeen, in a statement,  said people living in Amira Kadal and adjoining areas of Srinagar are worried and frightened due to the constant precipitation and surge in water levels of Jehlum.

He said that the government is duty bound to address peoples’ worries and assure them that their lives and properties are safe and secure. Kadfeen added that keeping the past experiences in view, the government must press into service all arrangements so that the situation like that of the 2014 doesn’t get repeated and peoples lives and properties are secured on priority.

Kadfeen maintained that the government has to adopted a long term strategy to deal with the flood like situation that emerges every time there is rainfall for more than two days. “The government has to contemplate why it hasn’t done enough since 2014 to assure people their safety even if incessant rains lash the summer capital for days together,” Kadfeen asked and pitched for immediate measures to put an end to the present crises.
