Militant killed during nocturnal gunfight in Shopian

Shopian, June 11 (PTK): A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight with goverment forces in Awneera area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on pre-dawn hours Tuesday.

Source told news gathering agenc PTK that one militant has been killed while as encounter is on in the area.

Earlier on receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area joint team of forces including 1st RR, CRPF and SOG launched search operation in the area,  official said.

He said that as the joint team fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire leading to a gunfight.

He said that one militant was killed and his identity and group affiliation is being ascertained. (PTK)
