Kulgam Encounter: More than 50 injured in clashes; no militant body retrieved

Kulgam, May 29 (PTK): The Pre dawn gunfight in Tazipora village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district was called off on Wednesday as the militants managed to escape from the security forces’ gunfight.
The operation was launched on Wednesday Pre dawn hours on the basis of a tip-off about the presence of militants, in Tazipora area, a police official told PTK.
A police official told PTK that the operation was over at Kulgam but no militant body was retrieved from the encounter site.
The militants opened fire during the operation, prompting retaliation from the forces which triggered a gunfight.
“Searches were concluded this morning. There was no fresh firing as the militants seemed to have escaped from the gunfight on Pre dawn hours” the official said.
Meanwhile, 50 persons were injured, four of them seriously in government forces action during clashes near encounter site at Kulgam village of south Kashmir on Wednesday.
