Popular Islamic cleric Mushtaq Veeri booked under PSA

SRINAGAR, (PTK): Popular religion cleric and vice-president Jamait-e-Ahle Hadees Jammu Kashmir, Mushtaq Veeri was been booked under Public Safety Act today.

The authorities have booked him under Public Safety Act and has been shifted to a Jammu jail. Earlier, spokesman Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir Advocate Zahid Ali and JKLF chief were booked by authorities for unlawful activities.

Veeri was arrested during raids that started in last ten days of February in view of upcoming elections. Veeri remained imprisoned in District Jail Anantnag for almost twenty days. Hailing from South Kashmir’s Bijbehara, Veeri is a popular throughout the valley for his Islamic speeches.

Pertinently, government forces started crackdown against Jamaat-e-Islami and Hurriyat last month. (PTK)
