Political remarks from Governor beyond his constitutional mandate: Hakeem

SRINAGAR, OCT 09 (PTK): President Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has said that governor saying “boycott by mainstream political parties has encouraged militants” is a political remark which is beyond the constitutional mandate of the governor.

In a statement issued to PTK on Tuesday Hakeem said “Although boycott of elections is as good a constitutional right as is the participation in election including casting a vote but governor has no mandate to pass on any remark over the decision of any political party on participation in elections or otherwise also”.

Saying that the governor has not been properly advised over the boycott of mainstream political parties, Hakeem urged governor not to make any statement which would go against the duty of constitutional impartiality which he has to uphold till the very last day. (PTK)
