CM Omar Abdullah Hands Over Compassionate Appointment Orders to SRO-43, RAS Beneficiaries
Srinagar, May 25 (PTK): Omar Abdullah on Sunday handed over appointment orders to beneficiaries under SRO-43 and the J&K Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) during a function held at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
The programme was attended by Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Satish Sharma, Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and other senior officers.
Officials and beneficiaries from outside Srinagar participated through video conferencing.
A total of 52 beneficiaries from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir received compassionate appointment orders during simultaneous events organised in Srinagar and Jammu.
Addressing the appointees, Omar Abdullah said the government was not extending any favour but fulfilling its responsibility towards families who had suffered irreparable personal loss.
“The government that has given you these orders is not doing you a favour; it is our duty. While fulfilling this duty, we also realise that you have had to make a huge sacrifice to get these government orders,” the Chief Minister said.
He observed that unlike regular recruitment processes where candidates qualify through examinations and interviews, beneficiaries under SRO-43 and RAS had endured deep personal tragedies to become eligible for compassionate appointments.
“To get a government job, we usually ask our children to pass examinations and interviews. But the test you have faced has been far more difficult because you had to lose someone dear to you to reach this stage,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the government should function as one collective family and stand together during difficult circumstances.
“We want this government and all of us working within it to function as one larger family. We must not only share each other’s pain but also support one another during difficult times,” he added.
Urging the newly-appointed employees to discharge their duties with honesty and dedication, Omar Abdullah said public service should remain focused on helping people and contributing positively to society.
“Our only expectation from you is that wherever you are posted, you serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir with sincerity and commitment,” he said.
The Chief Minister also assured that all pending compassionate appointment cases would be processed expeditiously and eligible beneficiaries would not be forced to move from office to office.
“We are committed to ensuring that you do not have to move from pillar to post to obtain your appointment orders. All remaining cases will be cleared at the earliest,” he assured.
The beneficiaries thanked the Chief Minister and the administration for facilitating timely appointments and extending support to bereaved families.(PTK)
