DC Srinagar Reviews Proposed Fencing Works on Budshah, Noor Jehan Bridges

Srinagar, May 13 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo on Tuesday conducted an onsite inspection of the proposed fencing and allied works along Budshah Bridge and Noor Jehan Bridge (Cement Kadal) to review measures aimed at enhancing public safety on the bridges.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the proposed infrastructure upgradation works intended to improve safety for pedestrians and commuters using the bridges.

Officials informed the Deputy Commissioner that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for fencing works on both bridges had already been formulated. He was briefed about the project status, timelines and safety measures planned under the initiative.

Akshay Labroo directed the executing agencies to ensure quality execution, durability and timely completion of the works while maintaining the aesthetics, surrounding visibility and heritage value of the bridges.

He further instructed the agencies to incorporate all necessary safety safeguards and complete the project within the stipulated timeline with minimal inconvenience to the public.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that public safety remains a top priority of the administration and added that the fencing works are being undertaken as preventive safety measures in view of rising incidents along bridges and public demand for stronger safeguards.

He stated that the District Administration Srinagar has already implemented similar safety measures on several vulnerable bridges over the Jhelum River, including New Zaina Kadal. (PTK)
