Nasha Mukt Abhiyan: Awareness Drives, Competitions and Rallies Held Across Ganderbal

Ganderbal, May 12 (PTK): The District Administration Ganderbal on Monday organised a series of awareness and sensitisation programmes under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan (NMBA @100) to promote the vision of a drug-free society and strengthen public participation against substance abuse.

As part of the initiative, district-level essay writing, painting and singing competitions were organised at BHSS Ganderbal with enthusiastic participation from zonal toppers representing different educational zones of the district.

Students used art, writing and music to spread strong anti-drug messages and advocate for a healthy and responsible society. Meritorious students securing top positions in different categories were felicitated for their performances.

The event was organised by the Office of the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office.

Meanwhile, an awareness programme was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ganderbal where students from the Faculty of Horticulture of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K) and staff members participated in sensitisation sessions highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse.

A rally was also conducted during the programme to spread awareness regarding the importance of building a healthy and drug-free society.

In another initiative, urine drug screening of drivers from Bus Stand and Sumo Stand Kangan market was conducted at Sub-District Hospital Kangan in the presence of SHO Kangan. The drive aimed at promoting public safety and responsible conduct among drivers.

The Department of Cooperatives also organised an anti-drug rally at Chountwaliwar Lar with active participation from students of Baba Mian Nizam-U-Din Cooperative Educational Institute. Students and locals participated enthusiastically in the rally, spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Additionally, the Animal Husbandry Department organised awareness programmes at various locations across the district to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse and motivate communities to collectively work towards a drug-free society.

A semi-weekly anti-drug rally was also organised at Kangan with participation from students, traders and members of the general public. Participants voiced strong support for the campaign and pledged to continue efforts towards awareness, responsibility and social harmony.

The District Administration reiterated its commitment to intensifying awareness activities under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and appealed to all sections of society, particularly youth, to actively contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free Ganderbal.(PTK)
