Kolkata, May 09 (PTK): On the sacred occasion of Pochishe Boishakh, leaders and supporters remembered Rabindranath Tagore as a timeless poet, philosopher, educationist and one of the greatest cultural icons of Indian civilisation, while marking what was described as a new political chapter in West Bengal.

The occasion coincided with the oath-taking ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari as Chief Minister, with the Bharatiya Janata Party stating that Bengal stands at a symbolic moment where its rich cultural legacy meets renewed democratic aspirations for the future.

In a statement issued on the occasion, it was highlighted that Bengal has historically enriched India through great thinkers, reformers, writers, artists and nationalist visionaries who helped shape the moral and intellectual foundations of modern India.

The statement further noted that the beginning of a new government on the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore carries special significance and reflects a commitment towards restoring Bengal’s position as a centre of cultural confidence, intellectual leadership, development and national progress.

Referring to the vision of “Sonar Bangla,” the statement said the spirit of Bengal belongs to its people and symbolises both their civilisational pride and aspirations for a brighter and progressive future.(PTK)
