DC Shopian Reviews Eid-ul-Azha Preparedness, Directs Seamless Arrangements

Shopian, May 07 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta, on Thursday chaired a comprehensive meeting to review and finalise arrangements for smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Adha across the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the availability and supply of essential commodities including meat, poultry, vegetables and other daily-use items in markets. Directions were issued to ensure uninterrupted availability of quality essentials at notified rates for the convenience of the public.

Detailed discussions were held regarding security arrangements, traffic regulation, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, sanitation measures, healthcare facilities, fire and emergency preparedness and market inspections across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed arrangements for establishment of mandis for sale of sacrificial animals and stressed proper management and monitoring at designated locations.

To maintain cleanliness and hygiene during the festival, concerned departments were directed to identify suitable sites for scientific disposal of qurbani animal waste and ensure proper sanitation in both urban and rural areas.

The meeting also discussed coordination with Auqaf Committees to facilitate smooth conduct of congregational prayers and related arrangements at Eidgahs and major mosques across the district.

Officers were instructed to remain available in the field, work in close coordination and ensure prompt response to public grievances so that people can celebrate the festival peacefully and without inconvenience.

Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Shopian Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary, ADDC Shopian Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ADC Shopian Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, ACR Shakoor Ahmed Dar, SDM Zainapora Bilal Ahmed and officers from the civil administration and police.(PTK)
