Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Reviews Eid-ul-Adha Arrangements Across Valley
Srinagar, May 07 (PTK): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the smooth and peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Adha across the Valley.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed officials of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited to ensure uninterrupted power supply to major religious shrines including Hazratbal Shrine, Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg and Khiram in Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama and Aham-i-Sharief in Bandipora.
He also instructed the concerned departments to ensure adequate and uninterrupted supply of potable drinking water and address water-related issues on priority.
Emphasising availability of essential commodities during the festive days, the Divisional Commissioner directed authorities to maintain sufficient stocks of rice, atta, sugar and other daily essentials across the Valley.
To cater to the increased demand for sacrificial animals, the Director Sheep Husbandry was asked to ensure adequate availability throughout the division ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. Wakf authorities were also directed to properly regulate designated sale locations for sacrificial animals to prevent traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public.
The Divisional Commissioner further stressed the need for extensive market inspections to prevent overpricing and sale of substandard goods. He called for close coordination among enforcement agencies to ensure fair pricing and availability of essential commodities, especially mutton and poultry.
Special sanitation drives were also ordered around mosques, shrines, marketplaces and residential areas to maintain cleanliness during the festival. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation was instructed to deploy adequate manpower for door-to-door collection of animal hides.
Traffic authorities were directed to implement effective traffic management plans around major mosques and marketplaces to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the celebrations.
The Health Department was asked to deploy medical teams at major shrines and mosques to provide immediate healthcare assistance in view of large congregations expected during the festival.
To ensure safety and security, directions were issued for deployment of fire tenders and adequate security personnel at congregation sites for peaceful observance of Eid-ul-Adha.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and senior officers from various departments including Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, FCS&CA, Health, KPDCL, PHE, SMC, PWD, Fire Services, ULB, Wakf Board and Legal Metrology.(PTK)
