Spread of Intoxicating Beverages in Remote Areas of the Valley Alarming; The Three Revivers – Sheikh Hamza Makhdumi, Mujaddid Alf Thani, and A‘la Hazrat (may Allah have mercy upon them) – Guardians of the Revival of Islamic Sciences (Allama Hami)
Srinagar, Aug 15(PTK): While in various urban areas of the state, government actions have been exposing those involved in trading in spoiled and substandard food products, at the same time, shocking reports are emerging from several remote rural areas of the Valley about the spread of intoxicating beverages. These reports are not only deeply regrettable but also clear indicators of social decline, which must be addressed as an urgent priority of our time.
Expressing these views on the blessed occasion of Friday at the Central Jama Masjid, Nai Pora, Anantnag, the Chairman of Karwan-e-Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, said that true development and progress in the state can only be achieved when the negative mindsets and malicious characters festering within society are defeated at every level, and replaced with a positive outlook—something that requires moral education as an absolute necessity.
Allama Hami noted that the distressing and disgraceful news pouring in daily from different corners of the Valley reveals a severe lack of moral education, which is a harmful sign for a better future. In this regard, he stressed that the mission of the saints and Islamic thinkers such as our master Sheikh Hamza Makhdum, A‘la Hazrat, and Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi (may Allah have mercy upon them) is not only admirable but also an invaluable means of finding practical and effective solutions to contemporary challenges.
He explained that these blessed personalities, in addition to being standard-bearers of the revival of religion in their respective eras, have bequeathed to the Ummah a legacy of education and moral training aimed at social upliftment and sustainable community building. Wherever and whenever this legacy is implemented, it produces a moral, conscious, and living nation—one capable of becoming the cornerstone of a truly developed society.
On the occasion of the anniversaries (‘Urs) of Sheikh Hamza Makhdumi, Mujaddid Alf Thani, and A‘la Hazrat, Allama Hami paid glowing tribute to their memory, affirming that their religious and social services will remain unforgettable for the Ummah until the Day of Judgment, and that the community will continue to benefit from the blessings and spiritual grace flowing from their sacred presence.
He urged the public to nurture love for these blessed saints and reformers of religion and encouraged steadfast adherence to their noble path until life’s end. (PTK)
