JCO Martyred in Gunfight with Terrorists in Akhnoor Sector

Jammu, April 12 (PTK): A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army succumbed to injuries sustained during a fierce exchange of fire with terrorists in the Keri-Battal sector of Akhnoor, Jammu, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to sources, the incident occurred late Friday night when terrorists opened fire at an Army patrol near a forward post in the Keri-Battal area.

The Army responded swiftly, leading to a brief but intense gunfight. During the exchange, a JCO sustained critical injuries.

The wounded soldier was immediately evacuated by air to a military hospital for urgent medical attention. However, despite efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to track down the attackers. Further details are awaited as the operation continues.
