“J&K Faces Financial Crisis: Shah Fayaz Calls for Central Govt’s Intervention to Resolve Daily Wagers’ Issues”
Srinagar March 13 (PTK) Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is currently grappling with significant financial challenges, with thousands of crores in bills pending within its treasuries. In response to the pressing concerns of daily wagers, the government has established a committee to devise a framework for their regularization within six months. However, Shah Fayaz, President of the Jammu Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) and Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA), emphasizes that a sustainable solution necessitates substantial intervention from the central government, including a major economic package dedicated to addressing the issues faced by daily wagers.
Committee Formation for Daily Wagers:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the formation of a committee tasked with identifying the exact number of daily wagers and ad-hoc employees across various government departments. This committee is expected to obtain legal and financial opinions to formulate a policy for their regularization within six months.
Given the magnitude of the financial crisis and the challenges faced by daily wagers, there is a growing consensus that the central government should provide a substantial economic package to J&K. Such assistance would not only alleviate the current fiscal strain but also ensure timely payments and job security for daily wagers, leading to a one-time, sustainable solution to this pressing issue.
In conclusion, while the formation of a committee to address the concerns of daily wagers is a welcome step, lasting solutions require significant intervention from the central government to stabilize J&K’s financial condition and secure the livelihoods of its workers.(PTK)
