Srinagar, Apr 18 (PTK): A major fire broke out on Friday evening in Gousia Colony, Bemina, engulfing Madrassa Sabeel-un-Huda and two adjacent residential houses, triggering panic in the area.
Officials told Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK) that teams from the Fire and Emergency Services Department swiftly reached the scene after receiving the alert and are currently battling the flames.
Eyewitnesses said locals also joined the efforts, assisting fire personnel in preventing the fire from spreading further in the densely populated area.
“The blaze initially started at the madrassa and quickly spread to nearby houses. Multiple fire tenders have been pressed into service,” an official said, adding that intense flames and thick smoke were visible from a distance.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. So far, no injuries or casualties have been reported.
