Srinagar, Nov 03: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Sat Sharma, former MLA, as the new president of its J&K unit, replacing Ravinder Raina.

According to a party communique, a copy of which is in possession of this newspaper, Sat Sharma will assume the role with immediate effect. Ravinder Raina, meanwhile, has been promoted to a national role as a member of the BJP’s executive committee.

Raina’s recent defeat in the assembly elections was considered a setback in Jammu, where the party did manage to secure a victory. With Sharma’s appointment, Sunil Sharma is expected to be named the Leader of the J&K Assembly, recognizing his instrumental role in BJP’s success in the Valley, where it won four seats.

This change is seen as part of BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen its foothold in the region.
