Mirwaiz North Kashmir opposes Waqf Amendment Bill 2024:- calls it ‘forceful intervention in religious matters’

Srinager, September 11:Mirwaiz North Kashmir and Chairman Muslim Mutahida Mahaaz J&K Moulana Parray Hassan Afzal Firdousi on Friday criticized the central and J&K administration for their handling of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi accused them of “forceful interference” in the affairs of Mosques, Madrasas, and Waqf, which he argued goes against the Constitution.

Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi strongly opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill, describing it as an assault on religious freedom and a bid to undermine Islamic institutions.

Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi asserted that Waqf properties are not personal assets of the government or any individual. He emphasized that any changes impacting these properties are unacceptable and pledged collective resistance.

At the End of press release Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi highlighted the government’s failure to reconstitute the Central Waqf Council and argued that the bill’s amendments reveal a deliberate agenda to seize Waqf lands.
