Tral, August29: Political activist Sheikh Abdul Rashid from Tral sub district joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday. The joining ceremony took place in the presence of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti.
Later, Sheikh Abdul Rashid was warmly welcomed at Tral by PDP’s candidate for the Tral constituency, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, and PDP zonal president Tral, Qutub Din Shah. Several others also joined the PDP on the occasion, extending their support to Rafiq Ahmad Naik.
Speaking to the media, Sheikh Abdul Rashid revealed that he had initially intended to contest the election as an independent candidate from Tral. However, after PDP nominated Rafiq Ahmad Naik as their candidate, he decided to offer his support to Naik.
Earlier, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominated Rafiq Ahmad Naik as their candidate for Tral ahead of Assembly polls.
