Srinagar, August 29, 2024: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale shook the Kashmir Valley and parts of Pakistan today at approximately 11:26 AM, according to the Press Trust of Kashmir. The tremor, which had its epicenter in Afghanistan, was recorded at a depth of 255 kilometers.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) provided the precise coordinates of the quake: a latitude of 36.51 and a longitude of 71.12. Due to the significant depth of the earthquake, reports of damages or casualties are not yet available, though tremors were felt across the region.
