Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar :- Amir Hussain Lone, a specially-abled cricketer hailing from Waghama village of Bijbhera South Kashmir’s Anantnag District, is presently leading the Para cricket team of Jammu & Kashmir. Having encountered an accident at the age of 8, the 34-year-old has developed a distinctive playing technique, serving as an inspiration to many. Praised by cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Ashish Nehra, Amir lost both arms in a childhood accident at his father’s mill. Despite the tragedy, he has excelled in cricket since 2013, bowling with his feet and batting using his chin and neck. Tendulkar sent him a gift, and Nehra invited him to the 2016 T-20 World Cup semi-final. Amir credits the Indian Army for saving his life after the accident. A biopic on his life is in the works by Mumbai-based ‘Pickle Entertainment.’ Amir dreams of playing for his country and advocates for promoting Para sports in the valley.
Amir, thanked Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, for his support and said after many struggle his “dreams are getting fulfilled.” Mr Adani on Saturday said that the Adani Foundation will provide him with every possible support in his “unique journey.” The Adani Group Chairman saluted Amir’s “spirit of never giving up even in adverse circumstances” after watching his video and said the 34-year-old differently-abled cricketer’s struggle is an inspiration for all.-PTK
