Rural Sanitation Directorate intensifies cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Mission (G)
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 22: To promote cleanliness in villages with the participation of community members, PRIs and other stakeholders, “Swachhata Shramdaan” under the campaign of “Swachhta Hi Seva” was today held at Panchayat Dhok Wazarian, Block Nagrota here under the stewardship of Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K, Charandeep Singh.
As part of the two week long initiative planned by Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Govt. of India under Phase-II of the Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen (SBM-G), a series of programmes are being organised by the Directorate of Rural sanitation, J&K across the UT like cleaning of water bodies, holding Swachhata Pledge events, Swachhata Sharamdan, Sarpanch Samvad etc.
The event was attended by BDC, Rehmat Ali; Sarpanch Dhok Wazarian; Raman Wazir; Deputy Director, Rural Sanitation, Jammu, Sanna Khan; Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Preeti Sharma; Field Officer, Rural Sanitation, Jammu Sania Haq Khan; Block Development Officer, Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Jammu, Preeti Sharma; Block Development Officer, Nagrota, Shalini Raina and Ajay Singh, Accounts Officer, Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K.

The Director Rural Sanitation along with all the officers present and PRI members collected the garbage and cleaned the 500 mtr stretch from church gate to Panchayat Ghar Dhok Wazarian ward No.1, after which a rally was taken out by the students of convent school, Nagrota, holding the Banners of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS).
The Rally culminated at Panchayat Ghar Dhok Wazarian ward No.1. This was followed by a Swachhata Pledge administered by the Director, Rural Sanitation, J&K Charandeep Singh, who also interacted with the students and motivated them to maintain a plastic free, litter free and clean environment and be the ambassadors of Swachhata in their respective areas.
Later, the Director Rural Sanitation took a round of the Panchayat Ghar where activities/facilities like Health Club (Ladies and Gents), Ladies Gram Sabha, Public library, Drug Abuse Control & follow up, Play Ground, Recreation Room, First Aid Room are being provided to the people of the area. Director Rural sanitation appreciated the efforts of Sarpanch in maintaining the Panchayat as Model Panchayat.
