DC Ramban reviews implementation of SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 20: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam, who is also the Chairman of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee today chaired the Bi-annual meeting of the Committee to review the implementation of the Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989.
District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta, Committee Member Dr. Rajinder Atri, Lecturer, Arun Dogra and other members attended the occasion.
Threadbare discussion was held on the implementation of the provisions of the Act, and relief and rehabilitation facilities provided to the victims. The meeting also discussed the issue of effective control of atrocities against SCs and STs in the district.

The Deputy Commission informed that an eligible candidate from the Scheduled Tribes Community shall be nominated soon to strengthen the Committee.
The DC also issued directions to Sub Divisional Magistrates to conduct regular meetings of sub-divisional level Committees to implement the Act in letter and spirit.
