DC Kathua chairs DLTF meeting on safety of bridges

Call for immediate identification of sites requiring urgent renovation

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 10: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today chaired the maiden meeting of District Level Task Force mandated to ensure safety of the bridges and removal of accumulated materials here at DC office complex.

CPO Kathua, XEN PWD (R&B) Kathua, XEN PWD (R&B) Basohli, XEN PMGSY Kathua, XEN PMGSY Basohli, XEN Irrigation, XEN Flood Control, XEN JKPCC, DMO Kathua, JE NHAI and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

At the outset, the DC impressed upon the functionaries of different executive agencies to identify bridges which are affected by recent flash floods and rains, like erosion or accumulation of material posing threat to their safety.

The DC also laid thrust on carrying out the safety audit of the bridges which require immediate intervention, besides formulation of a plan for scientific removal of accumulated materials to minimize the risk.

The DMO Kathua was asked to work out the mechanism for procuring material required to restore the  affected bridges in the district.

It was given out in the meeting that similar exercise is to be done by BRO authorities who are looking after a number of bridges in the district, especially in hilly and border areas of Kathua.

SDM Hiranagar was also directed to identify and bring up the matter of safety of bridges which is under threat due to flash floods in border Tehsil of Hiranagar.
