Police launches bung destruction drives in Handwara, Sopore
Press Trust Of Kashmir Srinagar August 31: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have launched special bung destruction drives in Handwara and Sopore.
In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Qalamabad alongwith officials from Revenue and Forest Departments launched a special drive against wild bung in village Monabal and its adjacent area and destroyed huge quantity of wild bung. Sarpanch, Panchs and other respectables of the area participated in the drive.
Similarly in Sopore, Police alongwith Naib Tehsildar Khoie and Excise Department carried out bung destruction drive in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo. A police party headed by SDPO Sopore Shri. Furqan Qadir-JKPS accompanied with SHO Police Station Tarzoo destroyed wild bung/cannabis spread on about 20 Kanals of land in village Krankshivan Tarzoo and its adjacent areas.

General public of these areas have widely appreciated the action taken by the Police and assured their full cooperation in future as well to eradicate drug menace from the society.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
