DC Kathua reviews working of Cooperatives Department

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR KATHUA, AUGUST 13:  Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of officers Cooperatives department to review the functioning and progress of the Departmental services and the areas to work on through collaboration of different departments.

At the outset, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Kathua presented the Cooperative Profile of the district through  a powerpoint presentation.

The DC took detailed review of the updated Audit position of cooperative societies, financial status of the units, besides discussing issues faced by societies.

He underlined the need to frame a well knit strategy to revive the cooperative culture through active collaboration of different departments.

The DC directed the officers to prepare a list of societies which are under illegal occupancy so that the eviction process can be initiated at the earliest.

Directions were also passed to the officers to put up the file for reassessment of rents for properties of cooperatives rented out to different departments and stakeholders.

The DC laid thrust on the need to formulate a prospective vision document for strengthening of cooperatives, where governmental control will be minimised and a spirit of entrepreneurship was developed   on the pattern of cooperative model of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab and Kerala.

The DC urged the concerned officers to work with FPOs  to modernize the  supply chains for production, branding and marketing of different products that are being targeted under One District One Product ( ODOP) scheme.

The DC said that linking the products of cooperative societies with e-services and grading and certification by FSSAI will make the quality of products more effective by increasing its public outreach and expansion through online marketing and thus doubling the finances of such cooperative societies.
