AHD Jammu launches awareness campaign on controlling spread of Lumpy Skin Disease in milch animals

 PRESS TRUST OF KAHSMIR JAMMU, AUGUST 13: A team of Animal Husbandry Department headed by the Director Animal Husbandry Department, Krishan Lal, on Saturday  toured border areas of Dabhler, Rathana and Baspur Parla of Tehsil RSPura and launched an extensive awareness campaign in the series of measures taken to prevent the spread of Lumpy Skin disease in dairy animals.

Besides, farmers, BDC chairmen, Sarpanches, Panches also attended the awareness programmes.

 The public raised various issues concerning animal welfare and urged the department for taking more steps to prevent animal loss due to Lumpy Skin Diseases.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Krishan Lal, educated the farmers regarding various preventive steps to be taken for controlling the spread of this disease in their animals. He further informed the public that all necessary steps have been taken by the department to prevent further spread of the viral disease.

The Director instructed officers and paravet staff to remain stationed at their respective headquarters and provide all necessary assistance to livestock owners.

Addressing the farmers, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu informed that Rapid Response teams have been setup in the region for providing timely treatment to the ailing animals. He further said that sampling of animals is also being conducted for early detection of the diseases and insisted on isolation of suspected animals from healthy ones.

During the campaign Director along with team of officers and staff of the department also  visited to various dairy owners including Krishna Dairy in Suhanjana area of Tehsil Mandal of District Jammu as part of door to door campaign started by the Animal Husbandry Department for control of Lumpy Skin disease and inspected the animals.

Tarseem Kumar Sharma, BDC Chairman Block R.S Pura, Tarseem Singh, BDC Chairman Suchetgarh, Sarpanches, Panches and Farmers in large numbers were present in the awareness camps.
