RDD contractors protest in Boniyar, demand clearance of their pending bills

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR SRINAGAR AUG 09:- The contracts of Boniyar Block in Baramulla district on Tuesday staged a protest against Rural Development department and demanded release of their pending bills of NREGA.

Contractors while talking with news agency PTK said that we had worked with block development department under NREGA in year 2017 but our bills are still pending from the last Six years.

The people raised slogans against the department and demands release their bills as soon as possible.

Our payment of year 2017 is pending which must be released, they said.

Contractors have a right to demand their payment but unfortunately, the government is not paying any heed to our grievances, they said.

The contractors said that they have liability of lakhs of rupees and they are facing serious financial problems.

“They don’t care about us or our children,” the contractors said, adding “that time we worked tireless and most of us are educated unemployment youth.

Warning of serious consequences, the contractors said that if there payments are not released soon, they will go to any extent and the responsibility would lie on the shoulders of Government.

We are repeatedly brought this issue in notice of higher ups but to no avail, they added further.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and issue pending payment.

Meanwhile an official said that this is UT level issue and once it will be solved at UT level, these contractors will also get their payment
