Teenager drowns in Kishanganga Gurez

Locals protest against non availability of Doctors in NTPHC Bagtore

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR Gurez, 07 August: A 13-year-old boy from Dassia Bagtore village of north Kashmir’s Gurez died after slipping into Kishanganga River at Bagtore on Sunday afternoon.

An official identified him as Umer son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Dassia Bagtore village of Gurez area of Bandipora.

Officials said that soon after the youth slipped into the river, rescue efforts were made to retrieve the youth.

However locals alleges that after retrieving the body, doctors in nearby NTPC Bagtore were not available which could have saved his life in timely action.

Locals added the body was rushed to sub district hospital in Dawar where he was declared brought dead.

“The youth was brought dead to the hospital, and the primary cause of his death is being ascertained ,”said BMO Gurez Dr Tahira.

However protest was going on regarding non available of doctors in NTPHC Bagtore ,locals said that no doctor was available in the hospital. Reacting to the allegations, BMO Gurez said internal arrangement of doctor was done as their is only one doctor and one post is vaccant. “Yesterday as per govt order we deputed doctor to his orginal place of posting.”

The official said that his body was handed over to his legal heirs after conducting the medico-legal formalities.

Police said that they have registered a case in this regard.
