Srinagar-Leh Highway Closed for vehicular movement after fresh snowfall
Srinagar, 06 Jan (PTK): The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Leh highway has been closed for vehicular traffic till further orders after the area received fresh snowfall, officials said.
An order issued by deputy secretary with divisional commissioner Ladakh, of which a copy lies with Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK), reads that due to continuous spell of snowfall and extreme whether at Zojila axis resulting in heavy accumulation of snow on the axis, the Srinagar-Leh highway passing through the pass has become unworthy of vehicular movement.
Therefore, in the interest of general public the Srinagar- Leh national highway will close for all kind of civilian vehicular movement till further order with regard to re-opening of Zojila (Pass).
The general public & tourists are advised to suspend any travel on Srinagar Leh highway through Zojila (Pass) axis with immediate effect, the order reads. (PTK).
