Encounter breaks out in Anantnag village
Police personnel injured, operation on
Srinagar, 29 Dec (PTK) : A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Nowgam shahabad area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday evening.
Official sources told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that a joint team of Police, army’s and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering of an encounter, he added.
A police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants,adding that in the initial firing one police personnel got injured and was shifted to hospital.
Meanwhile Kashmir zone police also informed through a tweet that #Encounter has started at Nowgam Shahabad, Dooru area of #Anantnag. In the initial firing, 01 police personnel got injured & was shifted to hospital. Police & SFs are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.(PTK)
