Fake Currency racket Busted in Budgam, 03 accused persons held : Police
Budgam, 23 Dec (PTK) : Budgam Police on thursday claimed to have busted a fake currency racket by arresting three accused persons and recovered counterfeit currency notes, other tools from them.
As per the statement issued to Press trust of Kashmir (PTK), the police spokesman said that during Naka checking at Narbal, police party from Police post Narbal intercepted one vehicle bearing registration number JK01AB-9599 driven by one Taufeeq Hussain Khawaja son of Mohammad Akbar Khawaja resident of Baliharan Singhpora Pattan Baramulla and during searches, printed counterfeit currency notes worth ₹45,000/= were recovered from the vehicle.
The statement further reads that upon questioning, the said person confessed his involvement in printing fake currency notes at his home at Baliharan Singhpora Baramulla and accordingly a raid was carried out at his house and during search 02 printers, one paper cutter, 02 reams of bond paper, 01 Mobile Phone & 10 number of bond papers with printed ₹100/ fake currency notes were recovered and seized.
During sustained questioning, accused also revealed names of his two associates namely Farooq Ahmad Ganaie son of Ab Ahad Ganaie resident of Kalsari Pattan and Abdul Hamid Ganaie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganaie resident of Burran Pattan who were circulating the fake currency notes in the market.
All of the accused have been arrested and shifted to police post Narbal and further investigation has been set into motion.
Meanwhile a case FIR Number 262/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam and further investigation is going on,more arrests and recoveries are also expected,the statement reads. (PTK)
