PDD employees call off strike
Srinagar, 21 Dec (PTK) :The Power Development Department employees in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday have called off their strike after three days following written assurance from the administration.
According to Press trust of Kashmir (PTK) The strike by representatives of striking employees has been called off as they are satisfied with the administration’s response towards their demands after an agreement has been reached between the striking employees and administration to put on hold the proposed merger of PDD with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI).
The protesting employees will resume work immediately. The employees have been directed to restore power supply in the affected areas forthwith so that the people don’t face any more inconvenience.
Official sources told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that fresh talks were held between PDD association and the administration on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday during which the government agreed to put on hold the merger of the Power Development Department (PDD) with PGCI and after the striking employees received assurances on other issues, including salaries, from the administration, the PDD employees called off their protest and said they will resume duties from today.
Notably, the strike had entered its third consecutive day on Monday which caused enormous inconvenience to the people of Jammu and Kashmir due to outages. (PTK).
