PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | Srinagar :Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed severe concern over the news reports declaring Kashmir as ” witnessing heroin epidemic”.
In a statement issued here JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that this report had snatched the sleep from eyes as the concerned medical experts and consultants have meaningfully called it a ‘ heroin epidemic’ and have warned about the prevailing and future consequences of the situation, if left uncured.
Wani said that doctors have revealed the status of the spread of Hepatitis C disease and the HIV AIDS thereof and the pain of the problem arose when it was disclosed that the females too are emerging as increasing drug addicts of the heroin and other addictions.
JKCSF Chairman has appealed all stakeholders in govt as well as the society to take this matter serious accordingly as the experts have warned.
Endorsing the recommendations of Dr Yasir Hussain Rather, psychiatrist JKCSF has appealed the govt stakeholders and welfare organizations to inculcate provisions for sports and recreation as an alternative to boost the positive mental and emotional status of the youth.
JKCSF has appealed the religious scholars, Imams and heads of academies and tution centres to set up proper lessons for behavioural classes under moral education modules.
Wani also appealed the Directors of Health in Kashmir and Jammu to establish Drug De-addiction Centres in each District of J and K. :PTK
