Encounter breaks out in Shopian village
Srinagar, 08 Dec (PTK) : A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in cholan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday morning .
An official told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that a joint team of Police, army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint teams of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering of an encounter, he added.
A police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.
Meanwhile Kashmir zone police also informed through a tweet that Encounter has started at Check Cholan area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.(PTK)
