Suspicious object found & Defused in Kupwara
Kupwara, 03 Dec (PTK) : A suspected explosive material was found and later defused by security forces along lolab-Kupwara road in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on friday, official said here.
According to a statement issued to Press trust of Kashmir (PTK), the police spokesman said that based on specific input indian army was on alert and was carrying out searches along the main roads for suspected IED on friday at about 1145 hrs.
The statement further stated that a suspicious Metal cylindrical object connected to a battery by wires was noticed lying along the culvert of road leading from Kupwara to Kalaroos. The area was immediately cordoned off, jointly by troops of indian Army(41RR),140 Bn BSF & SOG (Kupwara Police).
Adding that, for saving the lives of locals and avoiding any untoward incident the traffic was halted on the said road and bomb disposal teams of indian army was called in, soon they reached to the spot and with due deligence and safety moved the suspected object from road to a safer place in jungle and later the suspected object was destroyed by the Bomb disposal team.
Soon the traffic movement was restored on the road and assurance was provided to the locals that everything is safe now.The synergised efforts of Indian Army, BSF and Kupwara Police averted a major incident from occuring thus saving the innocent lives of locals, the statement reads .(PTK).
