Foreign militant, his local associate, House owner & OGW killed in Srinagar gunfight: IGP Kashmir
Says House owner was killed in cross firing, another was OGW, who provided his rented room as shelter to militants, two pistols, two magazines, half-a-dozen mobile phones and few computers were recovered from the encounter site

Srinagar, 16 Nov (PTK): Four persons were killed in hyderpora Srinagar gunfight including a foreign militant, his local associate, house owner where the militants were hiding and an over ground worker who was involved in harbouring militants and provided his rented space to Haider and his associate for using the same as militant hideout, says Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Tuesday.
According to Press trust of Kashmir (PTK) while addressing a press conference at Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that four persons including a foreign militant, his local associate, an OGW and a building owner were killed in Hyderpora, Srinagar encounter last evening.
The IGP Kashmir said that on Monday afternoon , Police, CRPF and the army launched a cordon and search operation in hyderpora area of Srinagar city following credible information about the presence of militants, as the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter, in the ensuing gunfight, a foreign militant identified as Haider and his local associate possibly from Banihal area of Jammu were killed,the IGP said.
He adds that the building owner altaf ahmad was killed in a cross fire while the fourth person identified as Mudasir Ahmad was an OGW who was harbouring militants and provided his rented room to Haider and his associate for using the same as militant hideout.
Mudasir was also involved in ferrying militants from north and south Kashmir areas and also involved in ferrying Haider from the recent attack site of Jamalata Srinagar where a police man was injured,the IGP said.
He adds that two pistols, two magazines, half-a-dozen mobile phones and a few computers were recovered from the encounter site.
The IGP Kashmir further said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police will probe the hideout incident at hyderpora Srinagar gunfight site, that led to killing of OGW and a building owner. (PTK).
