“The licenses of those dealers and shopkeepers found selling sub-standard pesticides and fungicides must be cancelled,” Monga demanded.

“The fruit industry, which is the backbone of Kashmir’s economy, has suffered major losses in the recent years due to weather vagaries, use of sub-standard pesticides and other reasons.

A clampdown by the government, early snowfall, no rainfall in the autumn season, and finally sale of fake pesticides by shopkeepers has dealt a huge blow to the fruit industry,” he added.

The Congress leader urged the government to immediately crack a whip on these elements who are selling substandard pesticides and fungicides in the market before it is too late.(PTK)
