Srinagar, Mar 30 (PTK): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday expressed profound grief over the demise of renowned doctor of medicine and brother in law of party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, Dr Muhammad Ali Matoo, who passed away here after a brief illness.
Late Dr Muhammad Ali Matoo was the son of renowned businessman of his times, and a close associate of Sher e Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Khwaja Muhammad Abdullah Matoo of Chamardori, Zainakadal. He was also the brother of former Rajya Sabha Member Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Matto. Late Dr Ali Muhammad Matoo was a renowned Doctor and served at SMHS hospital and SKIMS, Srinagar.
A man of depth he was known for his humble disposition and cheerful nature. A dignified upright person Matoo sahib embodied nobility, dignity and grace. The party rank and file is in unison with the grief stricken family in particular with the wife of deceased Prof. Suriya Matto Abdullah Sahiba, and his daughter Dr Nyla Ali Khan. The party expresses heartfelt condolences to the party president and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah and additional general secretary in their hour of grief.
Party’s senior leaders and Members of parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi have also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dr Muhammad Ali Matto. The leaders have condoled with the party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah, additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal and the Matto family in particular the wife and daughter of the deceased, Prof Suriya Matto Abdullah, and Dr Nyla Ali Khan respectively.
While condoling with the mournful Abdullah, Matto families the Members of Parliament prayed for peace to the departed soul and much needed strength to the grieved families to bear the inconsolable loss. The Members of parliament have also appreciated the call of mournful family to avoid large gathering.
The incarcerated leadership of the party including General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, senior leaders Abdul Rahim Rathar, Mubarak Gul, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Aga Syed Mehmood, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Shameema Firdous, Hilal Ahmad Lone, Irfan Shah, Mir Saifullah, Ali Muhammad Dar, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shah have also extended unison with the mournful family.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Nimaz e Jinazh of the deceased was attended by close family members including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Vice president Omar Abdullah and additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal. The deceased was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Ziyarat Hazrat Baha Ud Din Ganjbaqsh Kashmiri (RA) in Shahar e Khas locality of Srinagar. Party’s vice president Omar Abdullah was among few family members who were present at the grave yard to oversee the arrangement and bid farwell to the departed. On the occasion he offered fatiha and prayed for peace to the departed soul. (PTK)
